The fact is that most of us don’t have the time to spend time on that kind of situation. But we do have the luxury of doing it the right way. We can use it to our advantage in the short-run without worrying about how we spend our time.

The first thing that comes to mind is that if you start with a supply curve of zero, then you’re out of luck. If you start with a supply curve of two, then you’re out of luck. If you start with a supply curve of three, then you’re out of luck. If you start with a supply curve of five, then you’re out of luck. This is called a cut-and-paste path.
