I am a medical assistant in a home health care agency and we are a small agency. I am currently in the process of taking a position in a larger agency and I am very excited about the opportunity. I have been working in a medical office setting for the past 7 years. I came out of school with a BSN and have been working part time since I was 18. I am currently working on a full time medical assistant’s job that doesn’t pay much but I also have the opportunity to work for large company. One of the main aspects of my job is making sure that the patients that live in the same home get the same level of attention from the same team. This means that they have the same medical needs, same medication needs, same procedures, etc.
As someone who works on the medical side and is currently the only full time employee in a large, high-tech company, you get a good feel for the types of situations you’ll be dealing with. I think that the number of medical assistants in the United States is somewhere around 10,000. Most are in the Bay Area, but not all. In San Francisco, there are 30 medical assistants, and in Los Angeles there are 30, and in New York there are 30, and in Boston there are 30 and in Chicago, there are 30.
