To influence someone to achieve a goal, you need to show them that you want them to achieve a goal. Thats the goal, its the process behind it that is the important part. So not only do you have to be interested in the goals of others, but you also have to actually be interested in yourself.

Many people are not interested enough in their own success to be influential in the world. That doesn’t mean that you can’t be, but you need to know how you can use what you are to influence others to get more of what you want.
