However, the ability to communicate this is often lacking for a variety of reasons. Understanding the needs and desires of their audience comes at the cost of the business communicator’s ability to be clear and concise in their communications.

One of the biggest obstacles to clear communication is the desire to be succinct. It is often too easy to be too much of an ass to the people you’re trying to communicate with, so it is a good plan to consider your communication style. For example, if you are trying to sell someone on a new product, it is much better to be overly verbose than not at all.

A business communicator is so busy communicating that they don’t necessarily have time to think about things in the way that they actually do. The best way to answer a question is to think about the thing in a way that is most useful to you. This is pretty much the exact same thing as the best way to think about a game, movie, or book. The best way to think about a book is to read it, but the best way to think about a movie is to watch it. The best way to think about a game is to play it.
