In my view, all three of these are drives. They go hand-in-hand. All three of our drives are human drives. They are the same drives that motivate our actions. We need to make sure we are aware of the drives in our lives. We also need to understand them, even if we are not aware of them.

We need to be aware of how we feel, what we are thinking, and what we do. We need to be aware of our desires and our feelings. But most of all, we need to know what drives us, and how to work with these drives to make our lives, and our relationships, healthier.

I’m not going to lie, there are times when I can get bored easily. For instance, when I’m playing video games, I forget what I’m playing, I forget where I’m at, and I just feel empty and disconnected. It may be because I’m bored or just because I’m too tired to want to do anything.

We all want stuff. In a more scientific sense, we all want oxygen, food, sex, and pleasure. But these are not the only things we all want. We want our highest functioning, we want to be a part of something greater, we want to feel like we have something special, we want to be the center of attention. We want to feel alive. We want to feel like we are on fire. We want to feel like we are on a mission.

We each have a very specific set of desires that we are aware of when we feel like we are falling apart. These desires (and the lack of them) are what drive our actions. We don’t have to be like everyone else. We don’t have to want sex all the time, we just have to be okay with sex. We don’t have to pretend to be someone we are not.
