To achieve a given goal, a person must have sufficient knowledge, skills, or capacity to perform the work in a successful manner.
If your organization does not have enough knowledge, skills, or skill-building skills, you will probably not have a goal to accomplish.
In the early days of organization, goals were usually more narrowly defined, but as organizations have grown, goals have expanded beyond the scope of what simply “achieve a goal” really means. For example, the early days of the United States Postal Service did not have a goal to create a system that would enable us to send mail faster. Today, the goal is to build a system that will allow us to send mail faster.
In today’s world we have so many goals, it’s hard to know where to start. It’s much easier to think of one big goal, like creating a company that sends mail faster. But there are certainly some goals that are more specific. For example, the goal of the United States Postal Service was to create a system that would enable us to send mail faster.
If we build a system that sends mail faster, we are, in fact, creating a system that can send mail faster, but that is not the goal. That is the goal of the post office, and every other organization. The goal is to create a system to send mail faster. So in the same manner as a person creates a goal, a system creates a goal.
A goal is something that is in the forefront of your mind, so you get to decide whether or not you want to make it happen. In the case of the Postal Service, they have a goal of sending mail faster. That goal becomes the goal in the system and therefore the goal in the organization.
But there’s so much more to it than that. In the same manner a person creates a goal, a system creates a goal. This goal is the degree to which your organization achieves that goal. For instance, if a person wants to do A and B, the goal of that person is C. C is the degree to which they achieve the goal A. The same is true for the Postal Service. The goal is to send mail faster.
The primary reason why we keep the game going is because we have to keep the game going. Because the game always gets to where we are. You never get your goal the same way or the same way every day. You always get the goal you want, not the end goal. It is the beginning of the game, the beginning of the universe.
