That was the argument that the founders of Microsoft had to make when they bought their way into the market. “We’ll make so many Microsoft millionaires in our first year that it will be the height of corporate success.” This is what they said, and they made it. They would have been more successful if they had just waited until they had a lot of money to invest and then started buying companies.
This is what I thought when we first saw the headline stating, “Microsoft Buys All Your Profits.” That’s like saying you’re a better programmer than all of the other developers on the planet and then saying you will be rich and famous, but then when you’re trying to make it on your own you hire a bunch of people who all make a lot of money.
I guess the point is that the company did not need to acquire everything before it did. We as a society are becoming more and more dependent on our companies to make these things happen. It’s not that good of an idea to wait until you have a lot of money to decide the direction of your company.
At least not until you have a lot of money, right? When you do, you can hire people to work on your side, or on the side of the company. The problem with this is that you can’t get a lot of money by actually doing the work needed to be making money. So you need to hire people who are more motivated by what they can get paid than what they can actually do. So you have a bunch of people working for free.
As the name suggests, the company is the owner of a company they own. This does not mean that you can’t hire people to do something for free because you have to. As a way of not creating any friction, if you want to let people do your work and not get paid, then by all means let people do it for free.
