Yes, it is important to make sure that you have the best marketing team possible, but it is also important to know that marketing can take a lot of different forms. For example, there are many marketing departments at large firms that don’t focus on customer development.

A good marketing department may specialize in new product marketing, customer development, customer retention, and sales. While this may sound like a lot of different marketing departments, they are all important facets of marketing. I’ve had marketing directors tell me that they dont have marketing expertise. There are marketing departments that focus on all of these things, but you can’t just throw them all together and expect them to work well.

This marketing department seems to work pretty well, the last time I checked. There are only a handful of other marketing departments that I know of that offer so many different services, such as branding, sales, and sales development. If you have a marketing department that offers these services you are probably better off going with one of those marketing departments.
